A perfect score is witheld from the cons I felt could have been easily avoided, but it is still a truly great film. It oozes with the love and passion I've come to expect from Ankama, and it shows even more with a truly dedicated work of film. The opening preamble of French text is not accompanied by English subs. The subbed translation misses out on certain subtle pieces of dialogue. Ending scene was relatively anti-climatic, overly happy moment comes at the cost of preceeding a very emotional and important one. Pacing of the film was spotty in some areas, but overall enjoyable. Blood and violence, not extremely gory however. Abundance of risque humor that may not be enjoyed by some and partial nudity Every scene is a feast for the eyes, even those that last just a few seconds. A welcome addition of lore to the franchise So I would most certainly recommend watching those as well. It is however, enjoyed much more when having been exposed to the Wakfu and Dofus series. Wakfu and Dofus have always had some of the best animation in the industry, this is most certainly no different.

If you do not come for the story, characters or universe they inhabit, you'll most likely be charmed by the lovable characters, and beautiful art by the end of it. The voice acting and audio is top notch, the animation is smooth, brimming with detail and subtle movements. What passes in France, may not pass elsewhere, nudity is present, albeit not frontal, and there is blood in relatively small amounts, so parents be advised. Despite the film being bright, and cutesy, make no mistake, this is not a film for children in some countries. I did like the characters, but I did feel they substracted a bit much from our main protagonist. My biggest critiques would be the ending being rushed, and the wanton libido between two of the characters Khan and Bakara, they're a humorous duo, but I feel it gets in the way of Joris' story and some of the great scenery done by the artists.

The pacing of the film is a bit strange, part of this is due to the fact it's a movie and not a series. Whilst the animation, and the story is truly wonderful.

They're some of the most passionate men and women in either industry, and have a considerable cult following.ĭofus - Book I: Julith tells the childhood story of Master Joris Jurgen, the hero of the city of Bonta, it continues off of the Dofus: Treasures of Kerubim animated series and ties in with the Wakfu series special episodes, but does not require any pre-existing knowledge of the franchise to appreciate. Now the wait begins for the rest.Another gorgeously animated work from Ankama, and a wonderful way to kick off their first feature length film! A company of animators and game designers, known mostly for their MMORPGs Dofus and Wakfu. There's a certain design that I think appears to be a spoiler though so don't follow this blog link if you don't want the surprise to be ruined: linkĮDIT: subs for the first episode are out, and it gets right into it. Though I can't see it getting much traffic, and I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to share links on where to find subbed episodes of this show (besides legal venues) on this forum.Īnkama is planning to sell a Season 3 artbook the first week of October and provided some sample pages.

Feel free to post episode impressions here, or if you want you can make a new thread solely for Season 3. Also from what I hear they will be subbing more literally and will refrain from using the localized names of certain characters/places/items that Ankama uses for their english-language versions of the show and game (less Percy, more Pin-Pin).Īs the season will end its run by the end of the month, I presume the show will be made available to stream on Netflix sometime in October, though I couldn't tell you if they'll have the english dub ready by then (seems unlikely). Several days between releases was the norm back when Season 2 was airing, I expect more of the same. The rest will follow I'm sure, but as this is a subbing efffort by a rag-tag group of fans don't expect them to be delivered at the same rate as veteran fan-subbing groups like HorribleSubs or whatever.

Will likely be made available on Saturday.

The 1st episode was made available on the LUDO TV mobile app earlier in the week and thus, english subs are being worked on as we speak. Wakfu Season 3 premieres tomorrow (technically, today) in France w/ 3 episodes airing Saturday and two more on Sunday.
